Canoe and sleep under the stars in a traditional ‘swag’

Get ‘off the beaten’ track and uncover the secrets of the Top End of Australia by canoe. Over three days, you will explore 50 kilometres of timeless landscape along the Katherine River. Located 320 kilometres southeast of Darwin, this place is bursting with gorges, misty waterfalls, warm thermal springs and ancient culture.

The tour takes you away from the crowds at Nitmiluk National Park, in the heart of some of Australia’s finest nature. No experience with kayaking or canoeing? No worries, you will be accompanied by local and experienced guides. You will also receive plenty of instructions before you go on the water!

On day one, a 4WD will take you to Katherine River. This is where you will hop in your canoe on the mystical water. Enjoy exclusive picnics in remote spots, go swimming in natural water holes and spot wildlife along the way. Around 4:00 pm, you will go ashore to the camp.

Spend your evening by the campfire under a canopy of stars. The next morning, you will go up the river for another day of exploring. End your day at camp, where you will sleep in a swag along the river - a real Aussie experience. And on the third day, soak up the surroundings of the Katherine River.
