African-inspired canvas tents on the shores of Jervis Bay

Set amongst the eucalyptus trees is a place to savour warm Aussie hospitality and local food. This luxury tented accommodation is located in Jervis Bay, two hours drive south of Sydney, New South Wales. It has all the ingredients to make you feel “off the grid” in the heart of nature.

The Hutchings family were enthusiastic campers and after a few trips to Africa, realised their dream, a tented camp in the Australian bush! Their business opened in 1998, after a long and hard struggle. Now, the family are proudly enjoying life living under the gum trees.

There are 13 canvas safari-style tents which are nestled between the paperbark. They are built above the ground to capture the sea breeze. Enjoy a wrap-around deck with outdoor furniture, solar lighting, full insect screening and polished hardwood floors.

Be sure to visit The Gunyah Restaurant, designed by the Sydney architects of the Nettleton Tribe. Gunyah in Aboriginal means a bush hut. And is typically made of sheets of bark and branches. While you are there, have a hot cuppa by the cosy fireplace!
