Welcome to Jervis Bay

Located within the Shoalhaven region in New South Wales, Jervis Bay is a holidaymaker's dream. Boasting unspoiled white sand beaches which are home to dolphins, fur seals, little penguins and sea dragons. An outdoor enthusiast paradise, go bush walking, paddle boarding, rock climbing, surfing, boating or fishing. If you are a food and wine lover, enjoy gastronomic delights at world-class restaurants.

Aboriginal heritage

While Jervis Bay is renowned for its incredible natural beauty, it also has a deep connection with Indigenous Australia. The Dharawal-Dhurga language group are some of the early Aboriginal people known to be connected with the region. Today, Aboriginal tribes still have very strong connections to Jervis Bay and there are several significant and sacred sites found in the area.

Hyams Beach & Honeymoon Bay

Marvel at some of the world’s whitest sandy beaches such as Hyams Beach - featured in the Guinness World Records for its white sugar sands - which makes it a popular hotspot and often a destination on many a bucket list.

But at TravelEssence, we typically like to give our clients the option to travel "off the beaten track" to discover the less travelled and crowded destinations. That's why we recommend Honeymoon Bay instead of Hyams Beach.

Just across the bay lies Honeymoon Bay; small and sheltered, it is an idyllic setting for beachcombing and relaxation. A haven for dolphins, its crystal clear waters are perfect for water adventures such as snorkelling, diving, and paddleboarding.

For wildlife enthusiasts, this is an ideal destination to spot whales, which can be seen between mid-May and the end of November.

Go on a guided bush tucker walk with an Aboriginal guide from Bugiya Naway Buradja and learn about native plants or have a go at weaving. An ideal way to learn more about Aboriginal culture in a stunning natural setting. Are you a bird watcher?
