Travelling by water taxi 15 kilometres up the lake, your skipper and guide will share the rich history of the region and its fascinating geology.
The hidden lake - Arethusa pool was formed thousands of years ago and is often the highlight of the island. It can be reached within 20 minutes on foot. A little further is the highest point - Tyrwhitt Peak, with panoramic views over the lake and surrounding mountains.
This three-hour excursion is run by experienced guides who know the region like no other. The island is predator-free and home to a variety of birds including the Weka, Kereru, Korimako and Tomtits. Relax on the secluded beach and enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake.
