You will be cycling the K2K Trail along the northwestern shores of Lake Taupo, winding through the forest and past waterfalls. Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Taupo and Tongariro National Park. This trail is suitable for intermediate riders with previous mountain biking experience and a moderate level of fitness.
It is possible to cycle the route in both directions, but it is recommended to cycle from west to east, as it is more downhill with easier hills. It is also possible to take a ferry from the end of the Waihora Section to Kinloch or Kawakawa Bay. Taste of the Great Lake Trail – Introductory Ride is two to three hours in total.
